OF N.J. NOTARY PUBLIC OATHS
The
County Clerk's Office can supply you with an application to become a
Notary Public. The completed application must be forwarded either to
one of your Assemblypersons or your State Senator who represents the
town in which you reside with the appropriate fee. He or she will endorse
your application and forward it to the Secretary of State for processing.
Once you receive your certificate of commission, you have 90 days in
which to appear in person at the County Clerk's Office to take your
oath of office. You may NOT act as a notary until you have taken
this oath. There is a County Clerk filing fee of $15.00 payable by cash,
check or money order. Your commission is valid for a period of five
years.
Mail
completed application along with a $25.00 check payable to the State
of New Jersey to one of the legislators at the link below. He or she
will Sign off on the application and then forward it to Trenton. Trenton
will send your completed paperwork to you and you must come into the
County Clerk's office to be sworn in.
