A.S.I.A.
is a coalition, representing Asian-American communities in
seven countries, under the auspices of the Middlesex County
Cultural and Heritage Commission. Founded in 1998, A.S.I.A.
has committed to a multi-year project by which they will increase
the visibility and opportunities for Asian artists, promote
Asian educational and cultrual resources to the general public,
and develop cross-Asian and cross-cultural forums where members
address their own needs and offer mutual support.
This
publication is a compilation of Asian American artists, Asian
cultural groups and community resources of Asian culture,
all in New Jersey. There are three sections as follows: Artists,
Organizations and Libaries/Schools. Asian communities and
the general public are encouraged to utilize these cultural
resources for educational programs in schools, libraries and
community facilities.
If
you are aware of an Asian American artists or cultural group,
please be sure to let us know, as they may be featured in
the next update of the A.S.I.A. directory of artistic resources.
A.S.I.A.
members invite participants from New Jersey who represent
the cultures of Burma, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia,
Japan, Korea, Laos, Mainland China, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan,
Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet,
Vietnam, among others.
