CULTURAL AND HERITAGE COMMISSION
Volunteers are neighbors, college students, retired persons, business people, artists, and individuals just like you. Your skills and interests will be matched with the needs of the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission. Organized groups can also volunteer. All individuals are encouraged to apply as all our sites and programs are completely [accessible].
WHAT WILL YOU DO
You will assist with educational programs conducted by historians, artists, educators and staff. Some volunteers conduct tours, others assist with public programs, workshops and festivals. Or, you may work behind the scenes - with brochure mailings, telephone queries, or setting up displays. And . . . volunteers are needed to update this web page! Volunteer opportunities are available at the Cornelius Low House/Middlesex County Museum, East Jersey Olde Towne Village, VSAarts, or general community projects at the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission.
We need "people persons" who are outgoing and cheerful, who are interested in art, history and cultural traditions, enjoy interacting with the public, from young people to senior citizens. Schedules are flexible, with days, evenings and weekends available. The volunteer coordinator will arrange a schedule at your convenience.
STEPS TO BECOMING A VOLUNTEER
Request an application by e-mail, telephone or dropping by a Commission site. Return the application form. You will be contacted to arrange a time for you to come in to discuss your areas of interest.
Training and orientation. All volunteers will be given the necessary training and orientation prior to beginning their duties.
Volunteers are very important to our programs and services, and play a critical role at the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission. As a volunteer you will receive many benefits, such as meeting new people, using your skills and talents to improve your community, develop new skills and be recognized by your peers. Based on time logged, volunteers are acknowledged for their service to the County through a recognition program and gifts such as: a certificate, volunteer pin, plaque or volunteer sweater.
