Background:
Founded in 1978 and co-sponsored by the Middlesex County Cultural & Heritage
Commission, this state-wide not-for-profit is part of the international VSA arts
network which serves 49 states, the District of Columbia and more than 60
other nations.
National VSA arts
was founded by Jean Kennedy Smith as an affiliate of the John F. Kennedy
Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC and is designated by Congress
as the national coordinating agency for arts programs for individuals with
disabilities. On the local level, VSA/NJ offers expanded arts opportunities to the over 1 million New Jersey residents with disabilities.
