Senior Health and Fitness Walk
SEPT. 23, 2009 – Over 450 seniors from throughout Middlesex County laced up their sneakers today and participated in Middlesex County’s Senior Health and Fitness Walk.
This annual walk took place at Roosevelt Park in Edison and was co-sponsored by the Middlesex County Department on Aging, the Board of Chosen Freeholders and various senior centers throughout the County. Check-in began at 10 a.m. and the walk kicked-off about 11:15 a.m.
“This event is always so much fun for the residents who participate,” said Freeholder Blanquita B. Valenti, chair of the County’s Human Services and Aging Committee. “It also keeps us focused on staying fit and living healthy. Fun and focus? I think that’s a great way to spend the day.”
Participating seniors received T-shirts and a boxed lunch. Free blood pressure and glucose screenings were done prior to the walk.
All Middlesex County seniors were invited to participate in this yearly, countywide event.
