Grants to Support Human Services Programs Available
Mandatory Meeting for Applicants Scheduled for June 20
JUNE 6, 2012 -- The Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders is pleased to announce the availability of grants to support non-profit service agencies for the period of Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2013.
The priority of the 2013 Freeholders’ Support Grant process is to bridge the gap of unmet Human Service needs, particularly those related to poverty and special populations within Middlesex County.
Support Grant recommendations are developed each year by the Middlesex County Human Services Advisory Council (MCHSAC) and submitted to the Board of Chosen Freeholders for final review and approval.
As part of the MCHSAC’s efforts to make the entire Freeholders’ Support Grant process more amenable to both new and previously funded programs, community members and County staff have brought about improvements to the process for the 2013 funding cycle.
The 2013 Freeholders’ Support Grant application overview and MANDATORY Technical Assistance Session (TA) is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. June 20, 2012 at the Middlesex County Fire Academy in Sayreville. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY.
Failure to attend the session will result in the rejection of Support Grant applications. All revisions to the 2013 Support Grant and the process will be reviewed at the Technical Assistance session.
Copies of the 2013 Freeholders’ Support Grant application will be posted on the Middlesex County Office of Human Services Web site: http://co.middlesex.nj.us/humanservices/index.asp by ‘end of business’ Friday, June 15, 2012. Hard copies of the 2013 application will be distributed at the Technical Assistance session on June 20th.
After the TA session, electronic copies of the application may be requested from Harriet Slonim, Human Services Planner, at email@example.com or Annette Olsen, Administrative Assistant, at firstname.lastname@example.org or on the Middlesex County Office of Human Services Web site.
Completed applications will be due back to the County at noon on July 27, 2012. Additional details about the 2013 process, timeline, and checklists will be reviewed at the mandatory Technical Assistance Session.
“The 2013 Freeholders Support Grants application process will be very competitive. County resources are extremely limited, and there is no anticipation of an increase in overall support grant funds,” said Freeholder Blanquita B. Valenti, Chair of the Community Services Committee. “The strongest, most creative and most effective programs will be recommended to the Freeholders for funding.”
Freeholder Director Christopher D. Rafano added: “The Freeholder Board is steadfast in its commitment to provide the most effective programs we can to serve our residents. We are entrusted to allocate funds where they will best be used, making this grant program extremely competitive.”
