Middlesex County Office of Health Services Announces

2012-2013 Seasonal Influenza and Pneumococcal Vaccination Program

The Middlesex County Office of Health Services is pleased to announce the 2012-2013 Seasonal Influenza and Pneumococcal Vaccination Program.
“Middlesex County is committed to offering our residents the programs and services they need to keep themselves and their loved ones safe,” said Freeholder H. James Polos, chair of the County’s Public Safety and Health Committee. “Our Seasonal Influenza and Pneumococcal Vaccination Program is one important way we can boost the health and welfare of all who live and work here.”

“Everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccination as soon as vaccine is available this fall,” said County Health Services Director-Health Officer Lester Jones. “The single best way to prevent the flu is to get vaccinated each year, but good health habits can also help protect against the flu.”
Now through Oct. 30, 2012, seventeen (17) seasonal Influenza and Pneumococcal (pneumonia) clinics are scheduled in the communities served by the Middlesex County Office of Health Services, Jones said.

Influenza vaccination clinics will be open to Middlesex County residents age 6 months and older, no appointment is necessary. Influenza vaccinations will cost $15 each.  Residents who present a valid Red, White, and Blue Medicare card will not be charged; Medicare will be billed.

Pneumococcal vaccination clinics will be available by appointment only to residents age 65 and older who have never received the pneumococcal vaccination. Pneumococcal vaccinations will cost $20 each.  Residents who present a valid Red, White, and Blue Medicare card will not be charged; Medicare will be billed.  Pneumococcal vaccination appointments can be made by calling 732-745-3100 Monday through Friday from 9a.m. to 4 p.m.

All fees will be accepted in cash only.  Exact change is strongly advised. No bill larger than $20 will be accepted.  Clients who do not have their valid Medicare card must pay the vaccination fee, or they can bring their card to a future Middlesex County Office of Public Health clinic to receive services.  Receipts will be provided at the time of service.

You can also help reduce the spread of flu if you:

Middlesex County Freeholder Director Christopher D. Rafano, said: “The Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders, through the Office of Health Services, is committed to meeting the health needs of our residents and is happy to be able to offer this opportunity. We encourage all residents to come to one of our scheduled clinics.”
