Edison, NJ, June 7, 2013: Plays-in- the-Park is pleased to present the Tony Award winning musical Les Misérables as the first production of its 2013 Season. Performances will run from June 25th through July 6th, with no show on Sunday, June 30th or on July 4th. All shows begin at 8:30pm and are staged at the Stephen J. Capestro Amphitheater at 1 Pine Drive in Roosevelt Park, Edison, NJ.
Les Misérables is a beloved musical that has been touching the hearts of audience’s since its Paris premiere in 1980. Based on the novel by Victor Hugo, the story follows convict Jean Valjean as he breaks his parole to start his life anew in early 19th century France. As Valjean begins his quest for moral redemption, he is endlessly pursued by Inspector Javert during a time of political uprising.
“What a thrill to be able to offer our residents a chance to enjoy or enjoy again, this beloved musical,” said Middlesex County Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios.
“I encourage theater lovers of all ages to come out for what will prove to be a spectacular production,” said Middlesex County Freeholder Stephen J. “Pete” Dalina. “Our Plays-in-the-Park are one of our greatest recreational offerings and are so pleased that thousands of our residents agree.”
Scott Daniels of Metuchen, NJ will be featured in this production in the role of Inspector Javert, the relentless upholder of the law. Also featured in the production is David Weitzer as Jean Valjean, Katherine Le Fevre as Fantine, Bridget Elisa Yingling as Eponine, Emma McGahan as Cosette, Billy Piscopo as Marius, Matthew DeMarco as Enjolras, Michaels Kroll as Thenardier, and Liane Zielinski as Madame Thenardier. The cast consists of 36 actors from all over New Jersey and New York.
Tickets for Les Misérables can only be purchased on the night of the performance. The Box Office is open from 5:30pm to 9:00pm on the evenings of all performances. Tickets cost $7.00 for adults, $5.00 for seniors (60+), and are free for children ages 12 and under.

If a performance is cancelled due to bad weather, patrons may save your ticket stub and use it to attend any future summer performance at no additional charge. Ticket stubs are valid for exchange up to one year after the rained-out performance.
Plays-in-the-Park is dedicated to providing theatre to all peoples. PIP offers an Audio Description performance (Friday, June 28) an Open Captioned performance (Monday, July 1), and also a performance with Sign Language Interpretation (Wednesday, July 3).
Plays-in-the-Park represents a unique, collaborative partnership between community theatre and local government since 1963. PIP is sponsored by the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Middlesex County Parks and Recreation Department. Plays-in-the-Park is dedicated to producing shows that re-create or resemble, as closely as possible, the intent, stature, and scope of the original Broadway productions.
