County Prosecutor’s Office
Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Edison
Police Chief Thomas J. Bryan announced that a construction worker living in
Sin Ho Jeong, (DOB 5/23/56) of 720 Bergen Boulevard in
Ridgefield, was arrested by members of
the Fugitive Unit of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, the Edison
Police Department, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ridgefield
Police Department.
Jeong,
who currently is known by the name of Jae Ho Jang, was charged on August 1,
2000, with the murder of Du Ju Kim, 44, who was fatally stabbed outside his
apartment on
An
autopsy performed by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office determined
Mr. Kim was the victim of multiple stab wounds.
Jeong’s
whereabouts remained unknown until members of the Federal Bureau of
Investigation recently developed information on the case and contacted
authorities in

result, authorities from the four police agencies arrested Jeong outside his
home at 7:10 a.m. as he was leaving for work.

scheduled to appear before Superior Court Judge Joseph Paone
on May 25, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at the Middlesex County Courthouse in
Prosecutor
Kaplan thanked the FBI, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the
Ridgefield Police Department for their assistance.
Prosecutor
Kaplan also cited extensive work on the case by Detective Lt. Anthony
Marcantuono, Lt. John Spielman, Detective Sgt. Frank
Todd, and Detective Brian Mieczkowski, all of the Edison Police Department;
Sgt. Jacquelyn Molnar and now-retired Investigator Charles Gerndt,
both of the Homicide Unit of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office; Sgt.
Kevin Morton, Investigator Michael Connelly, Investigator Peter Pavlis and
Investigator David Deliman, all of the Fugitive Unit of the Middlesex County
Prosecutor’s Office, and Detective Mark Bendul of the Bergen County
Prosecutor’s Office.

As
is the case with all criminal defendants, the charge against Jeong is merely an
accusation and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
