Child death under investigation

 

 

          Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Perth Amboy Acting Chief E.J. McDonald of the Perth Amboy Police Department announced that police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 17-month-old boy who was under the supervision of a day care center located in the city.

 

The child, a Carteret resident whose name is being withheld at this time, was pronounced dead at 11:22 a.m. on May 17, 2010, at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy.

 

The investigation began after police received a 911 call at 10:35 a.m. on May 17, 2010, from Maggie’s Little School, a day care center on Parker Street in Perth Amboy.

 

Police arrived and attempted to revive the child, who was taken to the city hospital.

 

The results of an autopsy being conducted today by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office were not immediately available.
