Ex-clerk imprisoned for theft

††††††††† Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan announced today that a former accounts receivable clerk has been sentenced to serve five years in a New Jersey state prison for stealing more than $300,000 from her employer over a three-year period.

††††††††† Allison T. Tanzola (DOB 12/9/76) of the Avenel section of Woodbridge also was ordered to repay $305,771.68 she took from Brown & Bigelow Inc., a Minnesota-based promotional products manufacturer with an office in Woodbridge.

††††††††† Tanzola was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Glenn Berman during a hearing July 11, 2011, at the Middlesex County Courthouse in New Brunswick.

††††††††† She was sentenced to the term after pleading guilty on January 12, 2011, to a count of second-degree theft, admitting she took the money in various amounts between February 1, 2007, and February 1, 2010.

††††††††† She pleaded guilty to an accusation and waived her right to a presentation of the case to a grand jury in Middlesex County. The plea agreement was reached with Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Brian D. Gillet.

Tanzola was charged after Investigator Gary Charydczak of the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office determined she credited her personal accounts with refunds that were supposed to be paid to customers of the promotional products company.

The investigation began after company officials contacted authorities.

Tanzola had worked for the company for about nine years.
