Four arrested on drug charges

 

          Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan today announced that a joint investigation with police departments in Woodbridge, South Amboy and Edison has led to the arrest of four men in connection with the seizure of nearly 1.5 pounds of cocaine and $14,000 cash used in narcotics transactions.

 

Acting on information developed by law enforcement authorities, members of the three police departments and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force conducted a two-month investigation into cocaine sales.

 

As a result, police executed search warrants at two apartments at 128 North Broadway in South Amboy on February 20, 2009, at 6 p.m. and seized the cash and the cocaine, estimated to have a street value of about $18,000.

 

Arrested and charged with first-degree possession of cocaine and possession with intent to distribute the cocaine in a school zone were Michael Carlisle (DOB 1/25/74) of 128 North Broadway, Apartment B, and Jose Sosa (DOB 7/28/83) of 128 North Broadway, Apartment A. Bail was set at $250,000 for each of the defendants.

 

Also arrested were James Jordan (DOB 2/3/74), also of 128 North Broadway, Apartment B, and Tyrese Bell (DOB 1/22/74) of Troy, Alabama. Jordan and Bell were issued summonses on charges of possessing cocaine. They were released pending further court action.

 

As is the case for all defendants, the charges filed against the four men are merely accusations and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
