Highland Park Police responded to a report of a possible child luring
incident Monday, May 16, 2011, on
A 12-year-old girl was walking home from the Highland Park Public Library
when a two-tone black SUV, possibly a Pontiac Aztec, pulled up and parked on
The driver, described as a white male in his mid 30’s, had short black hair
worn in a “faux hawk” style, brown eyes and was wearing a tan sweater vest and
brown pants.
As the girl passed by the vehicle, the driver called out to her and
motioned for her to get in the front seat of the vehicle. The girl then
recognized the vehicle as previously being in the area of the Library near
The girl then ran away and did not see which direction the SUV headed.
The incident is under investigation by Highland Park Police. School
officials have been notified.
