Highland Park man critical after hit-and-run accident

A Highland Park man is in critical condition after being struck by two vehicles on Raritan Ave. The accident occurred at approximately 10:30 pm on October 19^th, when the victim was attempting to cross Raritan Ave between Second and Third Avenues. According to witnesses, the first vehicle to strike the victim was traveling northbound on Raritan Ave and left the scene of the accident. The victim was then thrown into the southbound lane of travel where he struck a second vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle stopped and rendered assistance until emergency workers arrived. The man was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick where he is listed in critical condition.
