Homicide investigation continuing

 

 

Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Anthony A. Caputo, director of the New Brunswick Police Department, announced today that an active investigation is continuing into the death of a 61-year-old hospital worker who was fatally shot in New Brunswick.

 

During the investigation, police obtained surveillance photos of three individuals who may have information on the fatal shooting on August 6, 2011, of Jesse Simons of New Brunswick.

 

The photo images of the three individuals, all described as persons of interest, were recorded by surveillance cameras. The three men were seen in the vicinity of Suydam Street and Remsen Avenue in New Brunswick at about the time Simons was killed.

 

Simons, who was employed as a patient escort at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, was the father of two daughters, aged 21 and 6.

 

He was shot on Suydam Street shortly before police were called at 1:56 a.m. Mr. Simons was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:28 a.m. on August 6, 2011.

 

The investigation is continuing, but no arrests have been made.
