Hospital worker charged with improperly touching patient



††††††††† Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Chief Thomas Bryan of the Edison Police Department announced today that a hospital technician at John F. Kennedy Medical Center has been arrested and charged with improperly touching a patient while she was undergoing a heart monitoring test.


Kiritkuma C. Shah (DOB 5/22/39) of West Windsor was charged on April 11, 2013 with one count of criminal sexual contact, a fourth degree offense, after the womanís daughter alerted authorities following the incident on March 16, 2013 at the hospital in Edison.


Shah, an EKG technician who has worked at the hospital since 1996, was charged after an investigation determined he touched the 45-year-old woman and unzipped his pants. The woman had been medicated and was undergoing the exam following surgery in January.


Shah was arrested and charged during the investigation by Detective Lisa Cimmino of the Edison Police Department and Investigator Andreea Capraru of the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office.


Shah also was dismissed from his job at the hospital.


His bail was set at $25,000 and he was required to post the full amount in order to be released from custody.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, Shah is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
