Jeep sought
Middlesex
County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and South Amboy Police Chief Darren LaVigne
announced today that police are searching for a 2000 to 2003 Jeep Wrangler or
Jeep Liberty to determine whether it was involved in the death of an 18-year-old
Perth Amboy man who was struck and killed as he walked along the shoulder of
Route 35 north in South Amboy nearly two weeks ago.
An
investigation into the death of Sylvestre Tejada, 18, of Perth Amboy, also is attempting to ascertain
whether the Jeep sustained damage to the passenger-side mirror and the front of
the vehicle.
The
investigation began after a state Department of Transportation maintenance
crew, while spraying herbicide along the highway bridge, over
An
autopsy completed by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office determined
that Mr. Tejada died from blunt force trauma as a result of being struck by a
motor vehicle.
The
investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the incident or who has
observed a 2000 to 2003 Jeep Wrangler or Jeep Liberty with front-end damage
and/or damage to the passenger-side mirror, is asked to
