Manasquan man admits sexual assaults
Middlesex
County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan announced that a 43-year-old Manasquan man
pleaded guilty today to two counts of sexual assault, admitting he molested two
girls on separate occasions.
Robert Morrissey (DOB 5/13/66) waived his right to trial
and admitted sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl in East Brunswick on one
occasion between July and September 2001, and said he sexually assaulted the
other victim, a 5-year-old girl, on one occasion in Old Bridge sometime between 2003 and 2006. Both victims were known to Morrissey.
Under a plea agreement negotiated with Middlesex County
Assistant Prosecutor Christie L. Bevacqua, the defendant will be sentenced to 20
years in a New Jersey state prison, but that penalty will be served
concurrently with a 30-year prison term he is facing for sexually abusing two
boys, ages 13 and 9, in Old Bridge in 2004.
In that case, Morrissey was found guilty on January 29,
2009, of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare
of the boys on various occasions between June 1, 2004, and August 31, 2004.
During
the trial, Assistant Prosecutor Bevacqua presented evidence and testimony
showing that the defendant provided the boys with pornography and then sexually
assaulted them in his home in

the conviction, Morrissey’s bail, which had been set at $350,000, was revoked
and he has remained in custody at the

is scheduled to be sentenced at the Middlesex County Courthouse in
Superior
Court Judge Barbara Stolte will sentence the defendant on the same day for
assaulting the girls.
In
addition to the 30-year prison term, Morrissey faces probation for the rest of
his life, and will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.
