Manasquan man
convicted
A 42-year-old Manasquan man is facing up to 30 years in prison after being
convicted in Middlesex County of charges of sexually abusing two boys, ages 13
and 9, in Old Bridge in 2004, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan
announced today.
Robert Morrissey (DOB 5/13/66) was found guilty on January 29, 2009, of
aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of the
children on various occasions between June 1, 2004, and August 31, 2004.
During
a trial that began on January 21, Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor
Superior
Court Judge Dennis Nieves immediately revoked Morrissey’s bail, which had been
set at $350,000. The judge is scheduled to sentence the defendant in the

also is facing a trial on additional charges involving two other victims, both
under the age of 18. No trial date has been set.
In
the pending case, Morrissey is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a
reasonable doubt.
