Men charged with sexually assaulting two girls

Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka announced today that two township men have been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting two 12-year-old girls.

Timothy E. Hunt, (DOB 8/2/68) of F7 Brookside Mobile Park, 3476 Route 1 North in the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, and Casey Callahan, (DOB 7/30/84) of Apartment A in the same mobile home complex, were charged with aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Callahan also was charged with a count of sexual assault.

Hunt, who was arrested on the evening of January 13, 2011, and Callahan, who was charged today, are being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick. Bail has not yet been set.

The men were charged following an investigation by Detective Jeffrey Russo of the South Brunswick Police Department and Investigators Joseph Celentano and Daniel Ruschak, both of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation determined that Hunt and Callahan, who both knew the girls, met them outside the Regal Cinema on Route 1 in North Brunswick on January 2, 2011, drove them to Callahan’s apartment and engaged in sexual relations. The men subsequently drove to a street near the girls’ homes and dropped them off.

School officials later learned about the sexual assaults and contacted police.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Russo of the South Brunswick Police Department at (732) 392-4646, or Investigator Celentano and Investigator Ruschak of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3600.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Hunt and Callahan are merely accusations and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
