Monmouth County man charged with sex assault, endangerment

Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Old Bridge Police Chief Thomas H. Collow today announced the arrest of a Monmouth County man on charges of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl in Old Bridge.

Michael Rubino, (DOB 11/29/65) of Woodville Road, Millstone, was arrested at his home on May 31, 2010, and was charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

Rubino, who is a construction contractor, was arrested and charged following an investigation by Detective Michael Blahota of the Old Bridge Police Department and Investigator Rajesh Chopra of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

The investigation determined that Rubino, who was invited to a friend’s home in Old Bridge on May 30, 2010, improperly touched the 7-year-old girl.

The investigation began after the girl told her parents, who contacted police.

Anyone with information on this or similar incidents is asked to call Detective Blahota at the Old Bridge Police Department at (732) 721-5600, or Investigator Chopra at the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3600.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Rubino are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
