County Prosecutor’s Office
Steven Parkey Jr. (DOB 8/7/70) of
Parkey
was arrested on August 25, 2010, following an intensive investigation by
Detective John A. Canavera of the Edison Police Department and Investigator
Prosecutor
Kaplan said members of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office routinely
review cases where no arrests have been made, and said such a review led to the
arrest of Parkey. Prosecutor Kaplan also commended Detective Canavera,
Investigator Daniewicz and Sgt. Ricardo for their work.
Parkey,
who was a resident of Highland Park at the time of the homicide, was being held
on $2 million bail, set by Superior Court Judge Bradley Ferencz, who stipulated
the defendant must post the full amount before he can be released from custody.
Parkey
is scheduled to appear today at 1:30 p.m. before Superior Court Judge Frederick
P. DeVesa at the Middlesex County Courthouse in
Edison
Police were alerted to the homicide at about 12:20 p.m. on October 3, 1990, after
a cleaning person discovered the victim in a room at the motel, then known as
the Colonial Motel on Route 1 in
The
victim was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy showed Ms. Adams died from
multiple stab wounds.
