New Brunswick man arrested, charged with sexually assaulting a child

 

 

          Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and New Brunswick Police Director Anthony A. Caputo today announced the arrest of a New Brunswick man on charges of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl.

 

Jeffrey Hagood, (DOB 4/17/60) of 33 Commercial Ave., Apt. 8-A, New Brunswick, was arrested Saturday July 11, 2009, on charges of sexually assaulting the girl on a number of occasions between March 1, 2009, and July 10, 2009.

 

He faces counts of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of the child.

 

Hagood was being held in lieu of $300,000 bail at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center. He must post the full amount, and not 10 percent, before he can be released from custody. Additionally, he may have no contact with the child, or any other child under the age of 16, if he is released on bail.

 

An investigation by Detective Kenneth Abode, of the New Brunswick Police Department, and Investigator Sue Kowalski and Investigator Frank DiNinno, both of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, determined that Hagood had assaulted the girl in his home.

 

The investigation began after an anonymous caller contacted the state Division of Youth and Family Services, which alerted the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Hagood are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
