Old Bridge man charged with wifeís murder

††††††††† Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Chief William Volkert of the Old Bridge Police Department announced that a township man was arrested this morning and charged with the murder of his wife.

Leslaw Pabian (DOB 4/14/59) of 43 Nottingham Drive, Old Bridge, was apprehended and was charged after Barbara Pabian, 53, was found dead in the home shortly before 12:34 a.m.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today by the Middlesex County Medical Examinerís Office. A preliminary review showed Mrs. Pabian apparently had been stabbed.

Police immediately began searching for the defendant, who was not at home when authorities arrived. He was apprehended at 5:34 a.m. as he was walking toward his work van, which was parked on Norman Lane in the township. He had worked as a self-employed framer.

The defendant remains in custody awaiting bail, which has not yet been set.

He was arrested and charged during an investigation by Detective Michael Blahota of the Old Bridge Police Department and Investigator Adrian Villegas of the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office.

Police determined that the couple had an adult son who lived with his parents, but was not at home at the time of the murder.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Blahota of the Old Bridge Police Department at (732) 721-5600, extension 3271, or Investigator Villegas of the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office at (732) 745-4428.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, Leslaw Pabian is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
