Old Bridge teacher pleads guilty

 

 

          Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan announced that an Old Bridge teacher pleaded guilty today before Superior Court Judge Frederick P. DeVesa in the Middlesex County Courthouse in New Brunswick to a fourth degree count of cruelty and neglect stemming from a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male high school student.  The judge is scheduled to impose the sentence on August 10.

 

Lisa Glide, (DOB 8/23/73) of 464 Magnolia Court, Howell, waived her right to a presentation before a Middlesex County grand jury and pleaded guilty to the fourth degree accusation.

 

Under a plea agreement negotiated with Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Christie Bevacqua, the defendant faces 364 days at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center and must serve a probationary term of up to five years when she is sentenced in about six weeks.

 

In addition, she will never again be allowed to teach in New Jersey and surrendered her teaching certification today. She also will be required to undergo mental health counseling and, during the term of her probation, cannot have any unsupervised contact with males under the age of 18.

 

Glide, who had been employed as a drama teacher at Old Bridge Township High School, was arrested and charged December 3, 2008.

 

An investigation by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit and the Old Bridge Police Department determined that Glide began engaging in the relationship with the student in February 2008.

 

Glide began working for the township as the high school drama teacher in September 2004, and also served as the advisor of school productions and plays at the high school.

 

Before working in Old Bridge, Glide was employed, from 2001 to 2004, with the Marlboro schools, and worked at the Jersey City schools from 2000 to 2001. In addition, Glide was a substitute teacher in Weehawken from 1999 to 2000.
