Pedestrian identified

 

 

Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and South Amboy Police Chief Darren LaVigne announced today that police have identified an 18-year-old Perth Amboy man who apparently was struck and killed as he walked along the shoulder of Route 35 north in South Amboy.

 

Sylvester Tejada was identified during an investigation by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the South Amboy Police Department. The investigation is continuing.

 

An autopsy completed by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Mr. Tejada died from blunt force trauma and that the death was accidental.

 

The investigation began after a state Department of Transportation maintenance crew, while spraying herbicide along the highway bridge, over Raritan Avenue, discovered the body and called police at 10:46 a.m. on July 28, 2011.
