Piscataway man charged with killing ex-companion

Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Richard Ivone of the Piscataway Police Department announced that a township man was charged this evening with the murder of his former live-in companion.

Kevin Scuccimarri (DOB 1/29/80) was charged in the death of Sherry Richardson, 39, of Middlesex Borough.

Scuccimarri also was charged with terroristic threats for threatening another individual, whose identity is being withheld at this time.

†††††††† The defendant was charged after police discovered the victimís body in a creek located near Blueberry Court and Knightsbridge Road in the township at 3:47 p.m. today.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed by the Middlesex County Medical Examinerís Office to determine the cause of death, but a preliminary investigation has determined that Ms. Richardson was the apparent victim of a homicide.

The charges were filed during an investigation by Detective Daniel Kapsch of the Piscataway Police Department and Investigator Adrian Villegas of the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office.

Bail was set at $1 million for the defendant, who remains in custody.

The investigation is active and continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Kapsch of the Piscataway Police Department at (732) 653 7371, or Investigator Villegas of the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office at (732) 745-4428.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Scuccimarri are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
