Piscataway police officer charged with drug theft

 

 

          Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Piscataway Police Chief Richard Ivone today announced that a township police officer has been arrested and charged with taking an undetermined amount of cocaine while working as the department’s evidence officer.

 

Albert A. Annuzzi (DOB 4/22/64) of Matawan, was arrested and charged on April 25, 2011, with one count each of official misconduct; theft by unlawful taking and tampering with evidence.

 

Annuzzi was charged after an investigation by the Piscataway Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that he took the cocaine for personal use from the evidence room, while working as the evidence officer, a position he held since February 2010.

 

Annuzzi was suspended from duty and remains free after posting $50,000 bail, which was set in New Brunswick by Superior Court Judge Diane Pincus.

 

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Annuzzi are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
