Double homicide; suicide in Piscataway

 

Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Piscataway Police Chief Kevin B. Harris today announced that a township woman and her friend were fatally stabbed by her former live-in companion, who then killed himself in Piscataway on the evening of April 5, 2009.

 

Christa Wahler, (DOB 12/19/63) and Dennis Marko, (DOB 11/4/67) both of Piscataway, died after being repeatedly stabbed by Wahler’s ex-companion, Andrew Krisinski (DOB 2/21/65).

 

Police were alerted to the incident when Wahler, of 567 South Randolphville Road, called 911 at 10:09 p.m., saying that Krisinski was attempting to break into her home and then succeeded in entering the single-family house.

 

A preliminary investigation revealed that Krisinski, apparently distraught over a recent break-up with Wahler, stabbed her and Marko repeatedly with a knife. Krisinski then stabbed himself.

 

Wahler and Krisinski were pronounced dead at the scene at 10:36 p.m. and 10:52 p.m., respectively, via telemetry by Dr. Abdel Malek of Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center.

 

Marko was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead at 11:01 p.m. by Dr. Susanna Wise.

 

Police further determined Wahler and Krisinski had lived together for about 1 ½ years and separated when Wahler obtained a temporary restraining order against Krisinski on February 22, 2009. Court records show the order was dismissed March 10, 2009.

 

Wahler was identified as the mother of two young children, who were not at home at the time of the incident. She had been married, at one time, to a distant cousin of Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler. She had been employed at EVA Tees in Piscataway.

 

Marko had worked at Park Avenue Deli in Piscataway. Krisinski, who was last known to be living in Woodbridge, was a partner at C.J. Construction in Green Brook.

 

Autopsies are scheduled to be performed later today by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office.
