Police investigate apparent homicide

 

††††††††† Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Anthony A. Caputo, director of the New Brunswick Police Department, announced today that police are actively investigating what appears to be the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man.

 

The investigation began after police received a 911 call at 9:27 p.m. on September 27, 2012, alerting them to the shooting at a house on Robinson Street in New Brunswick.

 

The victim, whose name is being withheld at this time, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead at 10:26 p.m.

 

The results of an autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examinerís Office were not immediately available.

 

A preliminary investigation by Detective Kenneth Abode of the New Brunswick Police Department and Investigator Scott Crocco of the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office has determined that the shooting does not appear to be a random act.

 

The investigation is active and continuing.
