Police investigate fatal shooting in South Plainfield

 

 

          Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Acting Chief James Parker of the South Plainfield Police Department announced today that authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old Plainfield man, who was killed in a hotel in South Plainfield.

 

Quadir Ali-Muslim, 32, of Plainfield was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick shortly after he was shot at 11:50 p.m. on August 22, 2010, in the first-floor hallway of the Best Western hotel on Stelton Road in the borough.

 

Police went to the hotel after receiving several 911 calls reporting gunshots had been fired.

 

An investigation by Detective Shaun Clifford of the South Plainfield Police Department and Investigator Scott Crocco of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that the shooting did not appear to be a random act. They are also investigating the possibility that the victim knew his assailant, who remains at large. Plainfield police are assisting in the investigation.

 

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today, but the results are not immediately available.
