Police investigating fatal crash


††††††††† Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Raymond Hayducka of the South Brunswick Police Department announced that police are investigating a collision on Route 1 in which a 37-year-old motorist was killed this morning.


††††††††† Javier Antonio Torres of Fairless Hills, Pa., was pronounced dead at 4:44 a.m. at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 4:19 a.m. on Route 1 north at the Blackhorse Lane intersection in South Brunswick.


Mr. Torres, who was driving a 2011 Nissan Versa, was stopped at a red light on Route 1 when a tractor-trailer, driven by Kevin Plante, 56, of Harrisville, R.I., failed to stop and crashed into the rear of the Nissan.


The crash is being investigated by Officer Frank J. Mongalieri of the South Brunswick Police Department and Investigator Jeffrey Temple of the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office.
