Police officer indicted in overtime theft
††††††††† Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey announced that a lieutenant with the Milltown Police Department was indicted today on charges of filing overtime vouchers and collecting money for work he never performed.

It also was charged that Coleís conduct established a pattern of official misconduct in which he collected more than $200 on 16 of the 17 occasions he claimed he had been working.
Cole initially surrendered to police on October 11, 2012 and was released in his own recognizance.
Cole, a member of the police department for 24 years, was suspended from duty pending the outcome of the case.
An investigation began when the Milltown Police Department discovered and reported the theft to the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office, which conducted the investigation in conjunction with the Milltown Police Department.
As is the case with all criminal defendants, Cole is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
