Police search for assailant
Middlesex
County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and New Brunswick Police Director Peter
Mangarella today announced police are actively searching for a man who abducted
a minor female and sexually assaulted her in the city last week.
Police
also developed a sketch of the assailant, who was described as an 18- to
20-year-old Hispanic male, between 5-foot, 4-inches, and 5-foot, 7-inches tall,
with short, dark hair, brown eyes and a thin build. He last was seen wearing a
black T-shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.
An
investigation by Detective Jamaal James of the New Brunswick Police Department
and Investigator Melissa Terpanick of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office
determined that the female was playing outside her home at the Raritan Crossing
apartment complex on
He
took her to a secluded area near her apartment building and sexually assaulted
her before fleeing. He last was seen walking away from the apartment complex
and was heading toward

female, whose age is being withheld to protect her identity, subsequently told
her parents, who contacted police.
