South Amboy man pleads guilty to fatal stabbing
Middlesex
County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan announced that a South Amboy man pleaded
guilty today to a count of murder and four counts of attempted murder,
admitting he fatally stabbed his live-in companion and stabbed four children,
ranging in age from 7 to 12.
Daniel
Charron (DOB11/27/59) also pleaded guilty to a count of sexual assault,
admitting he improperly touched a child under the age of 13.
Charron
waived his right to trial and pleaded guilty following negotiations with
Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutor Julie Davidson.
Under
the terms of the plea agreement, Charron will be sentenced to a

also will be sentenced to 10 years on each of the remaining counts and must
serve at least 85 percent of the term without a chance for parole, but that
penalty will be served concurrently to the murder count.
If
he completes his prison term, he faces parole supervision for at least 15
years.
Charron
is scheduled to be sentenced on February 1, 2010 by Superior Court Judge James
Mulvihill at the Middlesex County Courthouse in

was arrested and charged following an investigation by Capt. Darren Lavigne of
the South Amboy Police Department and Investigator George Trillhaase of the
Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
The
investigation began following a number of 911 calls to South Amboy police at
11:44 p.m. on December 1, 2007.
