Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Monroe Police Chief John Kraivec today announced that  on August 4, 2010 at approximately 6:18 p.m. the Monroe Police responded to the residence at 80 Leeds Lane in Monroe after receiving a 9-1-1 call.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the lifeless body of Harvey Zucker (age 80) lying on the living room floor with multiple stab wounds.  He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 6:55 p.m.  Present at the scene when police arrived was the victim’s  75-year old wife, Ruth Zucker.  Both Harvey and Ruth Zucker lived together at 80 Leeds Lane. The 9-1-1 call to the police was made by the Zuckers’ 46 year old son, who arrived at the residence to visit his parents and discovered that his father had been stabbed to death.

After a thorough police investigation, on August 5, 2010 at approximately 1:18 a.m., Ruth Zucker was charged with the murder of her husband Harvey.  Zucker entered a not guilty plea at an arraignment held today before Middlesex County Superior Court Judge, Joseph Paone.  Judge Paone set bail at $200,000.00, no 10% and ordered that Zucker undergo a psychiatric examination as a condition of bail.  She is currently in custody at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick.  An autopsy is being conducted today, however it has not yet been completed.
