Staten Island resident charged in connection with hit-and-run fatality

 

††††††††††† Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Chief William Volkert, of the Old Bridge Police Department announce the arrest of an individual who surrendered to authorities today on charges related to the hit-and-run fatality of Warren Wilmot, a 26 year old resident of Old Bridge, on July 29, 2012.

 

††††††††††† Timothy D. Lubniewski (DOB 03/18/1978) of Staten Island, NY was released on $75,000 bail after he was charged with leaving the scene of a fatality involving Wilmot of Old Bridge.

 

††††††††††† Lubniewski surrendered to police in Old Bridge after contacting Inv. Scott Crocco of the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office in response to a press story about the fatality. Lubniewskiís vehicle, a 2007 white Range Rover, believed to be the vehicle he was operating at the time of the incident, was recovered from a Staten Island auto body shop on Tuesday, July 31, 2012. The circumstances surrounding the fatality are subject to the ongoing investigation.

 

††††††††††† Warren Wilmot was struck, at approximately 1:15 a.m., while walking on the shoulder of Route 34, Northbound, enroute to a Wawa.He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on July 29, 2012, at 4:22 a.m.

††††††††††† As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Lubniewski are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
