Suspicious death under investigation

Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and New Brunswick Police Director Anthony A. Caputo announced that authorities are investigating the death of a 40-year-old man who was found in a parked car this morning.

After receiving a 911 call at 9:10 a.m., New Brunswick police were dispatched to Maple Street, between Brookside Avenue and Somerset Street, and found the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:14 p.m. by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

The cause of death was not immediately known, but appears to be suspicious. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today.

The New Brunswick Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office are actively investigating.
