Teenager charged with bias intimidation in assault of
The
16 year old, whose name is being withheld because of his age, faces a charge of
juvenile delinquency in the bias intimidation count that accuses him of
targeting the man because of his religion.
The
16 year old initially was charged with juvenile delinquency in the aggravated
assault of the 19-year-old man, and the additional charge was filed on October
2, 2009, following an investigation by Sgt.
The
16 year old initially was arrested and charged after the township man, who is
Jewish, told police he was punched at 7:25 p.m. while walking on
The Edison
Police Department subsequently filed a bias incident report with the New Jersey
Office of the Attorney General, in accordance with state guidelines.
