Two die following two-vehicle collision in November

 

 

          Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Sayreville Police Chief Edward Szkodny announced today that a husband and wife from Spotswood died on December 17, 2009, while they were being treated for injuries they suffered during a two-vehicle crash in Sayreville on November 27, 2009.

 

          Ricardo Clarin, 83, was pronounced dead at 2:10 p.m., and his wife, Aida Clarin, 80, died at 9:54 p.m. at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

 

An investigation by Officer Dave Sivilli of the Sayreville Police Department and Investigator Jeffrey Temple of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that the Clarins were injured when the car in which they were riding, a 2010 Toyota Camry, was struck head-on by a 2007 Ford F-150 pick-up truck.

 

The Camry was heading west on Bordentown Avenue in Sayreville when it was hit at 9:03 a.m. by the pick-up truck, which was heading east when it crossed into on-coming traffic near Winding Wood Drive.

 

The Clarins were taken to the hospital following the collision. Their driver, a 42-year-old female from Edison, and her front-seat passenger, a 13-year-old girl, also were taken to the hospital where they were treated for injuries. They since have been released.

The driver of the pick-up truck was taken to Old Bridge Regional Hospital, and since has been released. His name is being withheld pending completion of an investigation into the crash.
