††††††††† David Stankovits, (DOB 6/9/71) of 53 Janet Court, Milltown, and Dean Vourderis, (DOB 12/28/59) of 1 Richmond St., Apt. 2305, New Brunswick, were arrested and charged with counts of robbery and conspiring to commit the robberies.

Stankovits was charged with robbing three banks and serving as Vourderisí getaway driver in a fourth bank heist, while Vourderis was charged with robbing two banks and serving as Stankovitsí getaway driver in three robberies.

Stankovits was arrested at his home at 12:45 p.m. today, while Vourderis was apprehended during a motor vehicle stop at 11:30 a.m. on Route 1 in North Brunswick.

The men were arrested following a lengthy investigation by members of the Middlesex and Somerset county prosecutorís offices, members of police departments in Cranbury, East Brunswick, Franklin Township and North Brunswick, including Detective Steven Dunkel, and the New Jersey State Police, and the FBI.

The investigation determined that one man would wait outside while the other went in, handed tellers a note and fled with undisclosed amounts of cash on various dates between January 26. 2009, and March 23, 2009.

During a final robbery, on May 5, 2009, at 5:30 p.m., at the PNC Bank on Route 130 in Cranbury, Vourderis acted alone.

Stankovits was charged with robbery, and Vourderis was charged with conspiracy in the following robberies:

January 26, 2009, at 3:58 p.m. at the PNC Bank on Georges Road in North Brunswick, and

February 10, 2009, at 11:06 a.m. at the Provident Bank on Route 27 in North Brunswick.

Vourderis was charged with robbery, and Stankovits was charged with conspiracy, in a robbery on February 20, 2009, at 1:40 p.m. at Investor Savings on DeMott Lane in Franklin Township.

In addition, Stankovits was charged with robbery, and Vourderis was charged with conspiracy in a robbery on March 23, 2009, at 3:13 p.m. at the TD Bank on Milltown Road in East Brunswick.

The arrest were made following numerous hours of work by Investigator Brian Lubeski, Investigator Colin VanDemark, and Agent John Selesky, all of the Middlesex County Prosecutorís Office; Detective Justin Berger of the Somerset County Prosecutorís Office; Cranbury Police Detective Rob Giaccone; East Brunswick Detective Eric Raps; Franklin Township Detective Brian Stillwell; Detective Steven Dunkel and Detective Seeta Jones, both of North Brunswick Police Department; Perth Amboy Police Detective Carl Gram, and Special Agent Carrie Brzezinski and Special Agent Stephen Siegel, both of the FBI.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Stankovits and Vourderis are merely accusations and they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
