Witnesses sought in hit-and-run fatality

 

Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Robert Hubner, director of the Woodbridge Police Department, announced today that investigators continue to seek witnesses to a hit-and-run collision that led to the death of a motorcyclist on June 12, 2011.

 

          Angel Hernandez, 28, of Elizabeth was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway at 11:19 p.m., shortly after he collided with another vehicle while riding his motorcycle on Route 1 in the Avenel section of Woodbridge.

 

          Police were alerted to the crash at 10:10 p.m. on June 12, 2011, when a 911 call reported a motorcycle on fire in a northbound lane near Mitchell Avenue.

 

When police arrived, they found Hernandez in the right lane of the highway. The motorcycle, a red 2001 Suzuki, was in the center lane.
