Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and New
Brunswick Police Director Anthony Caputo announced that a
Darryl
D. Beckett, (DOB 12/20/70) of the
He
was charged with the sexual assault of a 25-year-old woman in New Brunswick on May
27, 2009, and was charged with the kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault and aggravated
assault of a 20-year-old woman in New Brunswick on June 5, 2009.
Beckett was arrested after the victims provided information
that helped Detective Karla Chendak and Detective Joe Nieves, both of the New Brunswick
Police Department, and Investigator Raj Chopra, of the Middlesex County
Prosecutor’s Office, identify him.

In the incident on May 27, 2009, Beckett, who was driving an
older-model gold Toyota Camry, approached the 25-year-old woman, who thought
she knew Beckett and got into his car on
Beckett
drove the woman to a secluded area off of
In
the June 5, 2009, incident, Beckett, driving the Toyota Camry, approached the
20-year-old woman during the early morning hours and punched her in the face
when she refused to get into his car.
He
drove the victim to the same location off of Joyce Kilmer area and sexually
assaulted her.

As is the case with all criminal
defendants, the charges against Beckett are merely accusations and he is
presumed innocent until proven guilty.
